Art Bulls For Charity: Osborne Joins the Charge Against Hunger

El Puerto de Santa María, Spain -- The iconic bull has long been a beloved symbol of Spain embraced by Spaniards and Spain enthusiasts alike. This symbol of strength, once threatened into non-existence, was the logo created in 1956 for Osborne, a family-owned business that has been producing fine Spanish wines and spirits since 1772. This year, to commemorate the Osborne Bull’s 50th anniversary, Osborne has united with Share Our Strength® to harness the strength of the bull in the fight against childhood hunger.

The Osborne company of El Puerto de Santa María, Spain has set its sights on becoming an integral part of the ongoing battle against childhood hunger with its charitable campaign, Art Bulls for Charity. “With the publicity of so many other worldwide concerns, hunger has faded from public view. But the battle against it still rages,” says Alberto de la Iglesia, Director of Osborne USA. “Through the Art Bulls For Charity Campaign, we are
pleased to be partnering with the nation’s leading anti-hunger organization to raise awareness and much needed funds for this important cause.”

In 1956, commercial artist Manolo Prieto, drew the prototype for the first “bullboard” as an advertisement for the Osborne Company’s Veterano brandy. Today, despite legislation threatening their very existence, these majestic black silhouettes continue to preside over the Spanish countryside.

Over the years this powerful icon has inspired numerous artists such as Keith Haring, Javier Mariscal, Pedro Almodóvar and Philip Stanton. Fashion designer Manuel Fernández says, “The icon of the Osborne Bull has always been a source of my inspiration
for its elegance and strength.” Now, the Osborne family is embracing the powerful emotion and artistic inspiration the bull evokes, and is channeling it into an auspicious charitable cause.

ART BULLS FOR CHARITY/ ADD ONE
Art Bulls for Charity is bringing together Spanish celebrities and Spain-lovers alike to create a unique artistic rendering using a flat small-scale model of the bull as a “canvas.”

Participating bull artists include world-renowned chefs, authors, top fashion designers, visual and performing artists, architects and other well-known celebrities.

The “Art Bulls” will be showcased in a series of exhibitions and charity benefit events across the country. This charitable project will reach coast-to-coast as the herd of “Art Bulls” charges from New York to Dallas, Chicago, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Los
Angeles and Miami.

Following their tour, the bulls will be showcased at and auctioned online in conjunction with the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, February 2007.
